The names in this Who's Who are names which are likely to crop up regularly in Russian current events or history.
The glossary of names in
Solzhenitsyn's The Gulag Archipelago was used as a 'base' for the historical names, although in time this should become less obvious as more information is added to the page. While it will be fairly obvious to the reader that this page is still under construction, there are many updates planned, so if you don't see what you are looking for, do try back, or e-mail us at admin@pwhce.org and we'll try to prioritise your area of interest.
The list of names below includes many of those individuals for which we aim to have biographies. Some of the names are not links (no entry provided), or lead to entries that are very brief. We welcome contributions of biographies, especially for those names listed below. Note that many of these names may be spelt differently in different publications, owing to the differing orthographical conventions used in converting the Cyrillic alphabet to the Latin.
